useR! 2026 is proud to offer a diversity scholarship program. The program aims at providing financial help to members of underrepresented or historically marginalized groups in the R community who may not otherwise be able to attend our conference for financial reasons. The useR! 2026 Diversity Scholarship committee will review applications based on eligibility, need and impact.

We aim to award as many scholarships as our funding allows, providing recipients full access to the conference. We are offering two types of scholarships:

  1. Conference registration fee waivers
  2. Full needs-based scholarships

The needs-based scholarships will cover:

  • A grant for travel and lodging (reimbursement based on invoice after the participation to the conference)
  • A free registration ticket for the conference

Applications should be made by submitting this form before May 10. Notifications will be made in May. We anticipate that the form will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Applicants must:

  • belong to an underrepresented or historically marginalized group,
  • be over 18 years old at the date of application,
  • did not receive a scholarship to attend useR! 2025.

There is no geographical restriction.

See Forwards Tips for Diversity Scholarships (https://github.com/forwards/conferences/blob/main/diversity_scholarship_application_tips.md) for advice on completing the form.

Applications will be evaluated by a committee with representatives from Forwards, R-Ladies and rOpenSci. All application information will be available only for the diversity scholarship committee and will be kept strictly confidential. Data will be deleted after scholarships have been paid out according to Forwards privacy policy (https://forwards.github.io/privacy-policy.html).
